Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Kerala-born rapper Sooraj Cherukat, popularly known as Hanumankind, for his latest track “Run It Up,” which spotlights India’s traditional martial arts. In the 120th episode of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ PM Modi remarked, “Our indigenous games are now becoming a part of popular culture. The new song of the renowned rapper Hanumankind, ‘Run It Up’, is becoming quite famous these days.”

“Run It Up” integrates martial arts forms such as Kalaripayattu, Gatka, and Thang-Ta, effectively bringing these ancient practices into contemporary music culture. PM Modi commended Hanumankind’s efforts, stating, “I congratulate Hanumankind that due to his efforts people of the world are getting to know about our traditional martial arts.”

The song has achieved significant acclaim, topping the Official Asian Music Chart for three consecutive weeks. Its music video is a vibrant celebration of India’s diverse cultural heritage, featuring elements of folk traditions alongside the highlighted martial arts.

This isn’t the first time Hanumankind has garnered attention for promoting Indian culture through his music. In September 2024, during the ‘Modi and US’ event in New York, he performed his hit single “Big Dawgs” before PM Modi and a 13,500-strong audience. The Prime Minister greeted him with “Jai Hanuman,” a moment that resonated widely online.

Hanumankind’s dedication to blending traditional Indian art forms with modern music continues to receive widespread recognition, bridging cultural heritage with contemporary artistic expression.
