    Manu Bhaker named BBC Sportswoman of the Year after Paris double medal win

    Indian shooter Manu Bhaker has been honored with the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year award on February 17, 2025, following her historic performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she secured two bronze medals.

    At the Paris Games, Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal by clinching bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event. She further showcased her prowess by partnering with Sarabjot Singh to win another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, making her the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympic Games since independence.

    Reflecting on her achievements, Bhaker expressed gratitude for the recognition and dedicated her awards to her coaches, family, and supporters. She emphasized the significance of her Olympic journey, stating that the experience has been both humbling and motivating.
