Acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is all set to unveil his latest cinematic venture Bandar, starring Bobby Deol in a powerful and unconventional role, at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025. The festival, known for celebrating global cinema and auteurs, will host the world premiere of the film in its Special Presentations section.

Bandar, a gritty socio-political thriller, marks a significant collaboration between Kashyap and Deol. After the success of Animal (2023), where Bobby Deol impressed audiences with his menacing performance, Bandar is expected to showcase another intense and transformative act from the actor. Deol’s look and role have been kept under wraps, building anticipation among fans and critics alike.

Speaking about the film’s selection, Anurag Kashyap said, “Bandar is a story very close to my heart, and I couldn’t think of a better platform than TIFF to introduce it to the world. It’s a film about chaos, rebellion, and identity in a deeply conflicted society.”
TIFF programmers have described Bandar as “a bold and feverish journey through moral grey zones,” lauding its visual storytelling and Deol’s commanding performance. The film is co-produced by Good Bad Films and a leading international studio, with a screenplay penned by Kashyap himself.
The premiere at TIFF further cements Anurag Kashyap’s status as one of India’s most prominent filmmakers on the global stage. Known for previous TIFF entries like Gangs of Wasseypur and That Girl in Yellow Boots, Kashyap continues to push the boundaries of Indian cinema.
Bandar will screen in September 2025 at TIFF, and a wider Indian theatrical release is expected later in the year. With buzz already building, this premiere is poised to be one of the highlights of the festival.
